Just when you thought weddings were the absolute beginning of capturing a couple’s romance…in comes the idea of photographing the proposal.  I am so thankful for the sisters and sister-in-laws for generally playing gardeners in planting the seed of having to have the proposal photographed to make all of her wedding dreams come true!  However, during this special occasion, I am so grateful for the wonderful team at beautiful Monarch Beach Resort right near me in Dana Point for referring me to this sweet, young guy looking to make his proposal special.

He wanted everything just right…down to the exact time he would get down on his knee to ask his long-distance love to be his wife.  While they made their way down, we carefully hid her family, literally, behind the bushes to witness their daughter and his brother say yes to forever.  Honestly, it was the sweetest sight I’d seen in weeks.  All I could think about was how young, vibrant and excited they were to start this new journey together.

He couldn’t of thought of a more pretty spot than the Botanic Gardens at Monarch Beach Resort.  That’s right, between the gorgeous ocean view terrace and sprawling green golf course nestles a gazebo and lush garden fit perfectly for this occasion.  I couldn’t help but think they reminded me of one of my favorite royal Disney couples…I’ll let you take a guess at who they might be.

Come take a tour of this “whole new world” with me of this gorgeous spot and romantic proposal.

Congratulations you two…thank you for having me!

I was so glad to finally have the opportunity to work with this crew from Oregon.  After a couple attempts at trying to get this session in the books due to a change in travel plans, it was my pleasure and blessing to have met such a bright, loving family.

My favorite was how the kids shared pure joy getting their toes wet and sandy in the white wash while mama and daddy shared some sweet, intimate moments together.  (And might I mention that he picked out and came home with that dress for her to wear…if that’s not love, I just don’t know, friends.  I. Just. Don’t. Know.) It was pretty magical to witness such loving examples to their children.

I know how valuable adventures are for everyone in the family and hope I was able to capture fun memories that will last them a lifetime!  Take a stroll with me and The J Family now through one of my favorite Orange County beaches EVER…

I love Texas.  This love came from the fact my forever bestie moved there and we have been able to visit almost every year since.  I always knew how cool Austin was…but the surrounding little towns, a recent visit to Waco, Texas and the Magnolia Silos and all of that Southern politeness got me gaga for Texas.  And let’s not even get into the bar-b-que!  So much goodness there…it’s easy to think I could spend more time there than just a vacation.

Another awesome thing is getting to hang with some long time friends who also just moved there and have called it home.  If you don’t know this sweet lady, she is a hard-working mama to these two little dudes, teaches barre and is the love of this cowboy.

Walk with me through the quaint town of Georgetown, Texas for a little antiquing.

Friends, as I mentioned in an earlier post, I have been terrible at managing this blog.  However, in the past weeks, I’ve been introduced to some tools to help me manage my future posts.  I’m hoping this little change will help me get all caught up as I’ve been beyond blessed to meet some pretty incredible couples and families.  Truly, they have been gifts to me personally, and I want to be able to share a little bit about them.  So, keep an eye out…

First, I want to introduce you to this ever-so-sweet couple, Makena and Kyle.  They stole my heart with the mention of a mutual friend and that this groom is, as we speak, training to be a firefighter in one of my favorite towns!  (If you know me, you know how much I love being a firefighter’s wife!)  I am sure this year has been such a roller coaster for them, but I’m gonna tell them it’s all foreshadowing to their lives as husband and wife.  Even though they’ve been together for a while through their young years, marriage is a blessing beyond what we can ever describe (am I right so far?!).  All I know is the absolute best part about it is that you have a partner in it.

I am thrilled and honored to play a small part in capturing the beginning of your history, your lives together.

Come with me and check out their adorable engagement session through the beautiful Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa down to Scripps Pier.
