Friends…I can’t even begin to tell you how busy and fast this year has flown.  Since announcing my new elopement and wedding offerings, I haven’t made the time to post much.  So get ready for some fun sessions I haven’t yet posted that’ll flood the gates!

To stay up-to-the-minute, follow me on Instagram.  There you will find new posts and videos of what I’m up to, including some fun behind-the-scenes footage!  The best part about behind-the-scenes moments is what we, as photographers, do to capture those priceless family moments in some of the most beautiful Southern California scenery you’ve ever seen.

If you live in SoCal, you might notice the sun will finally be out this week!  Yes, it has been raining almost non-stop since January and we were just not used to it.  However, the reward of what’s been named as the “Super Bloom” happened and all of the precious seeds that were hibernating finally bloomed.  It was so “super” the fields and deserts that were filled with flowers were seen from space.

Luckily, I was able to capture these cuties in the few weeks these blooms were around.  Enjoy them as much as they enjoyed frolicking around this gorgeous field.

The summer is over and so much is changing as we watch our kids go another grade up, and for some, have alone time with little ones.  Just a few short months ago I was honored to capture this sweet family at home to celebrate the arrival of the newest girl to their party.  Seeing them recently made me realize how much she’s grown and changed so much already!

Being home just a few days from the hospital is generally such a vulnerable time for the whole family, but not them.  They were all beautiful and calm…they were beaming.  Opposite of what I remember my own experience was in the first days home with my babies, this family seemed to already have a rhythm flowing, sisters playing and laughing, grandparents walking the dog and Mom and Dad taking turns caring for sweet Minnie.

As I moved around their home, their history hung on the walls in the form of drawings, portraits, snapshots and carefully curated collections from their childhood.  Found things and furniture that stretched through generations told me of where they’ve traveled, lived and who they are.  I found it so humbling to be a part of that in this small way.  My heart was so full!

Friends…I can’t even begin to tell how excited I was to hear from this couple.  I have known, at least one of them, since elementary school, and the other, since junior high!  I definitely have to thank social media for keeping us in touch and current on what we are all up to.  On top of that, they have been such wonderful supporters of my work and asked me to take their first ever family photos!  These two have amazing style and because Rommel is an architect, I really appreciate and am humbled they asked me to capture them in their town, my hometown of San Diego.

Downtown San Diego brings back so many memories.  We all worked, lived and played there and with the addition of the new public library and newly re-vamped Horton Plaza, it was the perfect location for their session.  It was right up their alley!

Take a stroll though my old stomping grounds as I capture this sweet family, childhood friends of mine…

It is my pleasure when I am allowed the opportunity to capture a family every year…and to top it off this mama is a close friend of mine!  I’ve had the best opportunities to capture some sweet life moments with them including a newborn session and, when I was first starting my business, a Valentine kid session!

As you might guess, my favorite in seeing families yearly is witnessing how much has changed in each child’s sweet face, how they grow into their once chubby baby cheeks, tickled belly laughs, and hear their little grunts transform to words that tell stories.  And then…be able to capture some quiet time of just Mom and Dad because life with 3 busy kiddos just doesn’t afford much of it!  Take a stroll with the B Family and I through one of Southern California’s prettiest campgrounds and be inspired to get outside with your crew!
