Can you imagine a large Filipino family with about 25 first cousins who are all girls? Then, those first girl cousins welcoming about 10 more girls to the family? Yes, that family is my family. Between all of the girls in each generation, every once in a while a boy is born and we all chat and laugh in excitement about how there may not be any hand-me-downs, we’ll have to buy little tee pees for those unforeseen diaper changing accidents and how he’ll grow up and have to marry a girl who can hang with us. We’re a tight bunch and always celebrate and look forward to the coming of a new baby!
This cousin of mine, pregnant with a boy(!), decided we should explore their town of Pasadena for her maternity photo session and BOY, (yes, pun intended) was I excited. With all of the beautiful architecture, cool downtown vibe and palatial city hall, it was hard to resist photographing them in their urban environment. Come explore with me as we venture through Pasadena’s downtown alleys and bridges, grab a special treat at a filipino-inspired coffee shop, and make a quick stop at City Hall.
